DOT Warns of Low Visibility
Primary Content

The Department of Transportation anticipates low visibility throughout South Georgia due to a fire in Arabia Swamp located in Clinch County. Beginning this evening and continuing through the week heavy smoke and shifting winds may reduce visibility on roads and highways.
The DOT is advising drivers to exercise extreme caution. Early morning smoke and fog mixtures may be particularly dangerous. Prepare for unexpected long delays, road closures and detours.
Affected counties include Clinch, Lanier, Lowndes, Thomas, Colquitt, Brooks, Cook, Berrien, Irwin, Atkinson, Ben Hill, Ware, and Charlton among others.
