Two Georgia teachers have won prestigious Milken Educator Awards.

Rachel Willis in Atlanta and Kelly Stopp in Norcross were honored Monday. The two won $25,000 prizes from the California-based Milken Family Foundation.

Willis is a third-grade teacher at Morningside Elementary in Atlanta. Stopp is a second-grade teacher at Meadowcreek Elementary in Gwinnett County.

The awards are given each year in states across the country to help attract, retain and motivate talented educators. The winners will go to Los Angeles in the spring for the Milken Educator Forum to discuss effective teaching methods.

Since the foundation began giving out the awards in 1987, more than 2,500 educators have been honored.
