U.S. Senator Saxby Chambliss fired a staffer who posted an anti gay comment on a blog that discussed the militaries' 'don’t ask don’t tell policy'. Chambliss also called the blogs' author and apologized.

The message was posted on September 21st, the day a repeal of the 'don’t ask don’t tell' policy failed in the senate. It used a slur and in essence said "all gays must die".

Blog readers then traced the IP address to the office of Senator Saxby Chambliss in Atlanta.
He referred the investigation to the Senate Sergeant at Arms.

The identity of the staffer was not made public. But he used the name "Jimmy" for the post. Saxby Chambliss called the Blog’s author Joe Jervis and apologized saying such comments are unacceptable.
