Federal officials arrested 32 illegal immigrants in Middle and South Georgia following a four-day round up.
The operation spanned 6 Middle and South Georgia counties.

The operation was spearheaded by the U.S. Immigration and Custom’s Enforcement with help from local law enforcement in Bibb, Houston, Peach, Dougherty, Toombs and Thomas counties.

Of those taken into custody some had prior convictions for offenses ranging from D.U.I’s to assault, while others had outstanding deportation orders or had returned after being deported.

Jerome Lee is an immigration Attorney in Atlanta. He says ICE should go after those with criminal records.

“If the raid successfully actually picked up people who were not only undocumented but removable and felons, then that’s probably a good thing.”

ICE officials say they are primarily focusing on arresting criminals. Those arrested included men and women from six different countries.
