GPB/AJC Top 10 Rankings

In this week's top 10 by Todd Holcomb and the Georgia High School Football Daily, Class AAAA saw the most movement while the two smallest classes saw only one change each.

In Class AAAAA, Newnan fell out of the rankings completely after their second straight loss, while Grayson re-entered at No. 10. The Rams have won three straight since a season-opening loss to Kell. Norcross also entered the rankings this week and jumped all the way to No. 7 after being previously unranked.

LaGrange, of Class AAA, fell out after being defeated on ESPNU by Carver-Columbus. Woodward Academy took LaGrange's former spot at No. 8 while Gainesville and Cartersville both entered the rankings at Nos. 9 and 10 respectively. Burke Co. fell out of the rankings after getting shellacked by Lowndes.

Thomas County Central fell to Cairo in their ancient South Georgia rivalry, and consequently dropped to No. 9 in Class AAAA. Kell moved up to the Cougars' former spot at No. 5 while Hiram, Marist and Flowery Branch each moved up one spot behind the Longhorns. Statesboro fell out after losing to Liberty Co. Chattahoochee then debuted in the rankings at No. 10.

Herschel Walker's alma mater, Johnson County, debuted in the rankings at No. 10 in Class A.

In AA, Fitzgerald and Jefferson County swapped spots as the Purple Hurricane moved to No. 9 while the Warriors fell to tenth.
