A Washington state military base Wednesday held a memorial service for a Georgia soldier.

Joint Base Lewis-McChord honored 22-year-old Pfc. Jacob A. Dennis of Powder Springs, west of Atlanta.

The Army says he died July 3rd at a medical center in Germany.

He had been taken there after a weapons accident a few days earlier on a forward operating base in Afghanistan.

Dennis was assigned to the 5th Stryker brigade, which deployed in July 2009 and returned last month to the military base near Tacoma.
