Polk County officials rescued 33 dogs from an alleged dog-fighting operation. Some of the dogs showed signs of abuse. Four people were arrested in the raid. They face charges of animal cruelty and drug possession.

Dog-fighting, possession of dogs for fighting, and being a spectator at a dog fight are felonies in the state of Georgia. Authorities got word of the operation from a privately funded confidential tip line. Officials say the dogs will be evaluated and treated.
