“Economically depressed” is the designation some northeast Georgia county commissioners are hoping to gain for county.

Jackson County officials say the listing would give them access to federal low-interest bond money.

The bond money could be used by an electronics company planning to build a facility and hire up to 400 people.

It’s up to the state Department of Community Affairs to reallocate Georgia’s more than $500 million dollars of federal recovery money for local governments that did NOT get bonds last year.
