A reserve soldier was shot dead by another reservist at Fort Gillem Georgia just before 5 pm on Thursday.
The victim, whose name has not been released, died of multiple gun shot wounds.
The alleged shooter who also remains unidentified fled the scene but later turned himself in to local police. Media has not been allowed near the building where the shooting occurred.
The army is calling the situation sensitive and under investigation. Officials say they do not yet have a motive nor do they know the relationship between the two men.
Fort Gillem just South of Atlanta. is home of the 1st U.S. Army, and is responsible for training the national guard east of the Mississippi.
