The investigation of a third Bibb County principal by the state is bad news for the superintendent in Macon.
Superintendent Sharon Patterson and two other school officials are being scrutinized by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission. The commission is investigating claims that Patterson failed to report two principals for misconduct as required by the state.
Now it’s been discovered that they also failed to report a principal who mismanaged federal funds. President of the Bibb County School Board, Gary Bechtel says its decision time for the board.
“When her contract was brought before the board in December ’08 I voted against it at that time and I’ve had questions about her leadership.”
Officials with the school system say the failure to report the principal was an oversight, but it could not have come at a worse time.
