Residents in South Georgia's Coffee County are still waiting for news on the whereabouts of a 23-year-old student missing in Haiti.

Courtney Hayes was staying at the collapsed Hotel Montana as part of a Lynn University service mission.

Her uncle Dewey Hayes, Jr. told GPB that officials have asked Courtney's parents to leave Haiti.

They had been in the country searching for their daughter.

Officials told the parents to return to the U.S. because they aren't professional rescuers.

As the search continues, local residents have been gathering tools to send search parties and hanging yellow ribbons from trees, mailboxes and doors.
