The Wilcox County Board of Education has approved a four day school week.

The Middle Georgia school system is the second in the state to make the change.

Last year students in Peach County began attending school Tuesday through Friday. Wilcox school officials say if the Georgia State Board of Education approves the change, it will go into effect in August. Wilcox is a small rural district with just one elementary, middle and high school. Moving to a four day week is expected to save the system around 100-thousand dollars a year. North Georgia’s Polk County is also considering changing to a four day week
