Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins has signed a two year contract with Georgia Power to purchase renewable energy.

The deal represents about 40 percent of the total green energy sold by the utility provider.

The program includes power generated from solar, landfill methane, and biomass.

Robins is mandated by the federal government to purchase five percent of what they consume from renewable sources.

The base is the largest industrial complex in the state and employs 25,000 people.
