As the runoff for Atlanta mayor gears up, former state Sen. Kasim Reed is getting a plug from another Democrat whose race went into extra innings.

Jim Martin - who was in a runoff last year against Republican U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss - endorsed Reed Monday.

Martin lost his bid to unseat Chambliss after a high-profile runoff that drew political heavyweights from both parties to Georgia.

Reed is facing off against City Councilwoman Mary Norwood in a December 1 runoff after neither won more than 50 percent of the vote last week.

Reed netted 38 percent of the vote, while Norwood took 45 percent.

Third-place candidate Lisa Borders, who garnered 15 perecent of the vote, has not announced which candidate she will endorse.
