Another troop deployment is underway at Fort Stewart.

The Third Infantry Division’s Combat Aviation Brigade is sending troops and equipment to Afghanistan.

By next summer, the 3rd ID will have about 14,000 soldiers spread between both Afghanistan and Iraq. This is the unit’s 4th deployment to Iraq.

Meanwhile, the Department of Defense announced over the weekend the death of another Georgia-based soldier.

Army sergeant Roberto D. Sanchez, 24, was killed late last week when his unit was hit by a roadside bomb. Sanchez was from Satellite Beach, Fla., and assigned to a unit at Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah.
