Still more rain is expected in North Georgia today. Statewide, flooding has resulted in the deaths of at least eight people.

Schools are closed in much of North Georgia, including Metro Atlanta, as residents and officials assess damages.

Some rivers in the area are still rising, but meteorologists don’t expect as much rain to fall as did in the past few days.

Parts of four separate interstates were closed due to flooding and damage assessments.

Ken Davis with the Georgia Emergency Management Agency advises people not to take chances. He says there are still some issues with homes, streets and roadways being flooded.

Authorities are now watching the rivers in Central and South Georgia for possible flooding later in the week.
