According to the FBI, the 45 robberies between March and June rank Georgia second in the Southeast for the heists.
Only Florida had more bank robberies.
Two factors explain the state's spike in robberies, according the Georgia Bankers Association.
The group sites the bad economy and the fact that Georgia has the second-highest number of bank branches in the Southeast.
The state has about 2,800 bank branches.
