Columbus is getting up to 200 new manufacturing jobs.

In a news release today, Governor Sonny Perdue said battery manufacturer Exide Technology got $34 million in federal stimulus money to incorporate advanced carbon technology.

To create the fuel-saving batteries, they're adding jobs at their Columbus site.

The technology is expected to reduce emissions and U.S. dependence on imported oil.
