Emory University is evaluating adult volunteers in clinical trials.
Researchers hope the results of the trial will help plan a pandemic flu vaccination program this fall.
Only five other medical programs are testing the vaccine.
Emory says a second study starting next week will test the vaccine on small children and young adults.
