Two Swine Flu outbreaks have been confirmed in Southwest Georgia. Thirty-two suspected cases amongst children attending a summer program and church youth gathering are being monitored by health officials in Albany. Two of the cases have been confirmed as the H1N1 Virus. The outbreaks occurred in Dougherty and Lee County
Brenda Greene is the District Deputy Health Director of the Southwest Georgia District. She says they have activated their emergency operations center.
"We typically don't see flu during this time of year so we are concerned about that, that we're seeing it in this time of year and we're also watching what's going on in the Southern Hemisphere to see what's happening there."
Greene says reporting has changed as well. From now on the state will not be reporting conformed cases, but only hospital;izations and deaths to the Centers for Disease Control.
