State Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond has a new career option on the table to consider.

He is in the mix of candidates for a position with the U.S. Department of Labor. Thurmond already has the possibilities of running for a fourth term as Georgia’s top labor official, and perhaps jumping into the race for Georgia lieutenant governor.

Thurmond says he’s weighing the options to see where he can “make the greatest contribution in terms of getting this economy turned around”. He says the number of career possibilities have left him in a “happy conundrum”.

Thurmond this morning is in Washington D.C. to participate in a Senate committee hearing on modernizing and re-training the U.S. workforce.

Thurmond has served as Georgia’s Labor Commissioner since 1999.
