Georgia voters who live along the South Carolina border are getting an early introduction to this year's presidential race in the form of campaign commercials. However, Augusta- and Savannah-area voters might not yet be ready to pay the candidates any mind. South Carolina's primary is a little more than a week away, giving border-area voters an early raft of political ads on television.

Gov. Nathan Deal released his 2013 budget proposal Wednesday and the $19.2 billion spending plan calls for more money for education. That’s a marked contrast from previous budgets. The new budget is up $900 million from last year.

Gov. Nathan Deal will release his 2013 budget proposal Wednesday, and the spending plan will include money for the Savannah Harbor Deepening project and new reservoirs. Gov. Deal will propose investing $45 million to expand the state’s water supply by building new reservoirs and drilling wells.

Gov. Nathan Deal is promoting a slate of tax proposals to help the state attract and retain businesses. He unveiled them at the annual Eggs and Issues breakfast Monday in Atlanta. Gov. Deal wants to give tax credits to businesses that create as few as 15 jobs. Currently, companies don’t receive them until they pledge to hire 50 people.
