ABOUT THE FILM & CO-HOST

A Story of Bones is a 90-minute "call to action" for change. It is about an immense journey of individual agency and community action of two women- one African American & Albany native (Peggy King Jorde), the other Namibian (Annina Van Neel) who join forces across the Atlantic Ocean to protect the world's most significant burial ground for enslaved Africans. 

Co-host Peggy King Jorde, is a native of Albany, Georgia, a Cultural Projects Consultant, film participant, Consulting Producer, and Impact Producer for the documentary A Story of Bones. 

The film premiered at the NYC Tribeca Film Festival in June 2022 and aired on Georgia Public Broadcasting Television on POV earlier this month. The film includes sequences shot in Albany. 

ABOUT THE SCREENINGS 

The Opening Night screening will feature a welcome by Albany Mayor Bo Dorough and an Invocation by Dr. Daniel Simmons on Tuesday, October 10th at 5:30 PM at the Albany Municipal Auditorium, 200 N. Jackson Street, Albany, Ga. A Q and A with filmmakers to follow. Light refreshments will be provided beforehand. 

The Closing Night screening is scheduled for Thursday, October 12th, at 5:30 PM  at the Albany Civil Rights Institute at 326 Whitney Avenue, Albany, Georgia. Light refreshments beforehand. Q and A with filmmakers to follow. Limited seating at this venue. Please register.

ABOUT THE RECEPTION & CELEBRATION

A  Meet the Filmmakers Reception  & Celebration is scheduled for Wednesday, October 11th, beginning at 5:30 PM at Pretoria Fields Brewery at 120 Pine Avenue. Albany's culturally & historically significant organization(s) help sponsor and participate in this festive reception inspired by "Revolutionary Acts of Remembrance."

The evening will be emceed by WALB's anchor, Ms. Karla Heath Sands,  Director Joseph Curran, Annina van Neel, and Albany native, Peggy King Jorde, will be on hand to meet and greet the Albany community, performances by area cultural & arts organizations, and remarks from community dignitaries. Refreshments and light, warm fare will be provided.
