(Event date: Mon 12/19)  The Augusta Museum of History continues their “Monday At The Museum” series with Holiday Fun–Children’s Winter Wonderland. It’s Monday morning at 10am. There’s a story about “The Polar Express”, plus opportunities to create a winter holiday craft while munching on gingerbread cookies and sipping hot chocolate. (Event Date: Tue 12/20)  It’s time for the magic of “Cinderella” performed by the State Ballet Theatre of Russia at Augusta’s Imperial Theatre. The full-length ballet in two acts is Tuesday night at 7pm and features the music of Prokofiev and choreography by Vladimir Vasiliev—former Principal Dancer with the Bolshoi Ballet. (Event date:  Wed 12/21)  Super Awesome Storytime features a Dr. Seuss classic that’s perfect for the holiday season! Wednesday morning at 10:30, children are invited to The Book Tavern at 936 Broad Street to hear “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”. (Event Date: Thu 12/22)  This Thursday, the Grinch comes to North Augusta’s Nancy Carson library to wish you a Merry Grinchmas! You can join the Cat in the Hat as he reads traditional Christmas stories and sings carols—then listen to Dr. Seuss’s “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” while enjoying cocoa and cookies. (Event date: Thu-Fri 12/22-23 This Thursday & Friday at the Jessye Normal School of the Arts, Troy Campbell’s “Rhythm” exhibit showcases his music-inspired collection of visual art from noon to 3pm. The Augusta artist and musican’s work features collages infused with popular culture and his current show is housed in the Jessye Norman School’s Ann & Ellis Johnson Gallery located at 739 Greene Street. (Event Date:  Thu 12/22 & Thu 29)  This week, the DuPont Planetarium on University Parkway in Aiken presents “Season Of Lights”, also known as “Tis The Season”.  The show traces the development of many of the world’s cultural customs practiced during the winter solstice, including the Star over Bethlehem, and other Christian, Jewish, Celtic, Nordic, Roman, Egyptian and Hopi celebrations. (Event date: Fri 12/23, Mon 12/26)  The annual Christmas in Hopelands light exhibit takes place this coming Friday and Monday at Hopelands Gardens in Aiken. These are the last two evenings of the season to stroll through miles of beautifully illuminated garden pathways and holiday displays. Hours are 6 to 9pm. The location: 103 Dupree Place in Aiken. (Event Date: Sat 12/24)   This Saturday evening starting at 10:30, St. John United Methodist Church on Greene Street is hosting a Christmas Eve Concert and Lessons & Carols. The concert features performances by the Saint John Choir and Orchestra. Proceeds from this event go to benefit the United Methodist Children’s Home. (Event Date: Thru 12/30)  A holiday tradition continues this week with Lights of The South featuring millions of lights, the largest American flag made of Christmas lights in the world, hay wagon tours, visits with Santa, and of course the famous “Lights of the South” food.  It all takes place on Louisville Road in Grovetown through the end of the month.
