The entry from Christine Anna Jeong, from River Trail Middle School of Johns Creek, Ga, is titled The Galactic Express. It depicts an astronaut hovering above the earth amid railway tracks, a rocket ship and space station. The railway tracks are her expressway to the stars.

Of her entry, Jeong writes, “"I know for a fact that the Galactic Express will be beneficial to society. I have always wondered what constitutes the universe and to what black holes could lead. My invention will allow people to explore the world and will help scientists to solve the biggest mysteries of outer space."

The national winner of the contest receives a $30,000 college scholarship and a $50,000 Google for Education grant for his or her school. In addition to that, the winner gets to spend a day at Google headquarters to animate his or her doodle with the doodle team to be featured on the Google homepage.

Google Doodle Activities you can Try in the Classroom

Our partner Discovery Education stopped by the Google Headquarters recently to meet with the Google Doodlers. During their visit, they created three videos and activity packs to introduce your K-12 classroom to the creative process. Watch the videos and download the videos that go with it.

Here is one of the videos to get you started and tell us how you do.
