Cedar Grove lost its third game of the season but remains in the No.1 position in Class 3A. The Saints were beaten by defending Class 7A champion and currently No. 4-ranked Mill Creek, their third loss to a team from a higher classification.

The other No. 1 teams in the state remained the same: Buford in Class 7A, Gainesville in 6A, Ware County in 5A, Benedictine in 4A, Thomson in 2A, Prince Avenue Christian in Class A Division I, and Schley County in Class A Division II.

The biggest jump by a newcomer into the rankings was by Newton in Class 7A. The Rams vaulted into the rankings for the first time this season at No. 7 by virtue of its 27-12 win over then-No. 6 Westlake, a decision that knocked the Lions out of the Top 10.

Other new faces in this week’s rankings are: Lumpkin County at No. 8 in 3A, Columbia at No. 10 in 2A, Lamar County at No.. 9 in Class A Division I, and Lanier County at No. 8 and Greene County at No. 9 in Class A Division II.
