Make That Kid An Offer

GPB Sports is looking for Georgia high school football players who are having a great season and career but who may need a little help getting noticed by recruiters. If you, or someone you know, doesn’t have an offer or may just be looking for a bigger offer, tell us your story. Send the details on what you've done over your career, along with your video highlights to GPBSports@gpb.org. If you’re selected we may feature you on our Recruiting 2022 Show Fridays at 7 pm on GPB.

Here are our nominees for the week of August 22, 2022:

Ben Guthrie, Alpharetta, QB, SR

Guthrie is a 5’11” 175 LBS senior quarterback at Alpharetta High School. He currently has an offer from Reinhardt. Guthrie led the Raiders to a huge 47-46 comeback season-opening win over #7 Jefferson on Friday night.  He was 22-35 passing for 338 yards and 3 TD’s, while spreading the wealth to seven different wide receivers.  He threw for close to 1700 yards last season as a junior with 14 TD’s and just six interceptions. From Matt Stewart: “Guthrie’s a big reason why I had Alpharetta ranked among my 2022 Top 10 Most Improved Teams in the state.”

Chase Morrison, Roswell, DE, JR

Morrison is a 6’4” 225 LBS Junior and third-year starting defensive end for the Hornets. He has one offer that he picked-up from Wake Forest during the spring. “We need the avalanche to start coming in after his monster performance in Roswell’s 35-10 season-opening win over Denmark on GPB,” said Matt Stewart. Morrison was a one man wrecking crew with 12 total tackles, 5 TFL, 2 QB sacks and one forced fumble. Matt Stewart says Chase reminds him a lot of former Hornets star Justin Ellis who is now a pre-season All-Sun Belt DE for the Georgia Southern Eagles.

Leslie made the Gwinnett County Defensive Honor Roll three times in 2021 and was named Defensive Player of the Week by his team twice.

Leslie had a strip sack, four tackles for loss and 10 total tackles (one being the key third-down stop that led to Brookwood’s go-ahead score) to help Brookwood win its first Corky Kell season opener in six years. He was named Defensive Player of the Week by his team for his efforts in the big win on 8/20 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

He currently has a couple of offers but is looking to expand his exposure throughout Georgia and surrounding states. He plans on majoring in Exercise Science/Kinesiology/Sports Medicine with a possible minor in Sports Management.
