Quarterback Crazy

Quarterbacks have been the story for a lot of teams this year, at every level. Like… hello, UGA. Good job on Jacob Eason.

Even in the pros… i.e. Denver’s Brock Osweiler who handed the Patriots their first loss of the season. Then there’s Cincinnati’s AJ McCarron who had to step in for an injured Andy Dalton. Even Indy’s Matt Hasselbeck took over the reins when Andrew Luck was out due to injury.

So, while we’re on the subject of QBs, let me throw another name at you: Junior quarterback Ryan Glover of Woodward Academy.

We had the pleasure of watching him compete on GPB’s “Football Fridays in Georgia” earlier this season in their defeat over Sandy Creek. According to 247 Sports, Glover is ranked as one of the top 25 dual-threat quarterbacks in the country.
According to the Woodward Academy Athletics’ website, Glover was awarded this week as the region 5-AAAA Georgia Player of the Year. Running back Elijah Holyfield is also one of the other stars named in the region 5-AAAA honor list.
Woodward finished the season 13-1 and was crowned the region 5-AAAA champion. The War Eagles second straight semifinal appearance ended with a 35-18 loss to Buford.

Back to the QB situation…
Glover currently has one offer from Georgia State, but if his senior season is anything like his junior season, he should entertain more offers from colleges around the country. It’s no surprise as to why he’s making the headlines. He’s extremely poised in the pocket, not to mention calm, cool and collected. It would appear that not much disrupts him, even when he’s backed up in the end zone; he has a solid arm to get their offense out of trouble. He has a sixth sense for feeling pressure and isn’t afraid to take the ball into his own hands and run it in.
According to Max Preps, he finished the season with 2,740 passing yards and 26 touchdowns. On the ground, he rushed for almost 400 yards and 6 touchdowns. He will be a senior next year.
