It’s hard to believe that there is just three weeks left in the regular season.  Where did  the time go?   I can’t believe it is almost time for the playoffs to begin.  So here are some thoughts as we thunder down the stretch of the regular season.

First off, I want to say that GPB Sports had a great experience taking the show on the road to Moultrie, Georgia to broadcast the Valdosta at Colquitt County game.  It is a region rivalry game that dates back over one hundred years and a tip of the cap goes to Packer athletic director Kevin Giddens, principal Stephanie Terrell, head coach Rush Propst,  Darrell Moore and all the folks at the Chamber of Commerce, along with all the students, parents, fans, and Colquitt Crazies that helped make our broadcast such a success.

Second,  I think the battle in class 6A  is going to be SPEC-TAC-U-LAR. Right now Colquitt County is on a 23 game winning streak and clicking on all cylinders.  But there are so many other talented 6A teams right now.  Right there in Region 1,  Camden County is undefeated and 8-0.  Grayson is 8-0.  Roswell opened the season on Football Fridays in Georgia back in August and has rolled to a 7-0 record. Mill Creek is unbeaten.  Norcross is 7-0.  And one loss teams like McEachern and Archer are just loaded with talent.  Walton and Peachtree Ridge are also having great years so it should be a lot of fun to see which two 6A  teams make it through to play for the state championship in the Georgia Dome.

Five teams in the 5A  top ten poll are unbeaten lead by defending champ, Northside Warner Robins along with Mays, Stockbridge, Lanier, and Northgate.

In 4A  the defending champion Buford Wolves will find a lot of challengers like 7-0 Cartersville, 7-0 Woodward Academy, 7-0 Mary Persons, and 8-0 Bainbridge.

Defending 3A champion Calhoun is playing well and is top ranked and has 7-0 Blessed Trinity, 8-0 Jefferson, 7-0 Central, Carrollton, and 7-0 Dodge County right on their heels.

In 2A Benedictine leads the way at 7-0, with Wesleyan 7-0 and Darlington 7-0.

And in 1A, Mount Paran Christian is ranked #1 in the polls with Prince Avenue Christian and Lincoln County still unbeaten.

Now these are just a handful of the teams in the hunt, there are plenty of teams with one loss, two losses or teams that might just barely make the playoffs, that can get hot and make a run at the Georgia Dome.  I hope some do.  It makes my job all that more fun………………
