I want to send out a big congratulations to Parkview High School baseball coach Chan Brown and his 2015 state champion team. There have been many many exceptional teams in Panther baseball diamond history and this year’s team did not disappoint. In fact, they put in a historic effort. Let’s start with 34 wins -- that is tops in Georgia baseball history. Plus, the Panthers posted an incredible 26-game winning streak to wrap up the year, surpassing a 22-game win streak that was tops in Gwinnett County. The Panthers were also crowned with their sixth state title in baseball. Parkview won its first championship on the diamond in 1996, and followed that up with titles in 2001-2002, 2011, 20012 and now, 2015. Coach Brown is in his eleventh season as head coach and this year, picked up his 300th win. In conversation with the coach himself, that milestone is downplayed. "It’s great, but it’s not about me. I am blessed to have good players who play fundamentally sound baseball," the coach explained. When asked about this teams strengths, Coach Brown described what's brought the success. “It is all about pitching and defense, throwing strikes, letting the defense work, and getting timely hits.” The Panthers were led on the hill by two outstanding pitchers: Will Ethridge, who posted a perfect 13-0 record, and Ryne Inman who went 11-1. As far as leading the way at the plate, there were a lot of guys getting it done. Daino Deas led the way with a .432 batting average and sluggers Brandon Hill and Austin Biggar, who logged eleven home runs apiece. When the final polls come out, this Parkview team could be the second Panthers club ranked No. 1 in the entire country at season’s end. So, congratulations to the hard working group...state baseball champions for a sixth time in school history!
