This is it. Week 15 of Football Fridays in Georgia and the Semi Final round of the GHSA Playoffs. Next stop, the Georgia Dome where 14 talented teams will compete for the right to be called “State Champion.” This week, we're at Cartersville High School where the Purple Hurricanes will host the Buford Wolves in a Class AAAA semi. Buford comes in as the two-time defending state champs in Class AAA, moving up to 4A this year. Buford has won 550 games since kicking off its program in 1942, and has won ten state championships. Cartersville has won 623 games since beginning the program way back in 1909. William Howard Taft was in the White House back then. The Hurricanes have also won two state titles, in 1991 and 1999. This year, Buford is undefeated and on a 38 game winning streak, while the Hurricanes are 12-1, with an 11 game winning streak going, the only loss to Class 6A opponent North Cobb, and that was a squeaker, 27-26. Coverage kicks off with our All Access Pass pregame show. Grace Olson visited Cartersville and will report on the Hurricanes while juggling all her social media duties and sideline reporting. Jon Nelson hit the trail to Buford and will have the latest on the 13-0 Wolves. Matt Stewart will have up to the nanosecond recruiting information, former Atlanta Falcon Chuck Smith will give us the keys to this game in our “Extra Point” segment and I will be joined on the set by Larry Smith. We will hear from both coaches, Buford’s Jess Simpson and Carterville’s Joey King right before kickoff, so please join us this Friday at 7pm as Football Fridays in Georgia invades Weinman Stadium which will be sold out, and rocking way before game time. Don’t miss a second of this semifinal game coming to you live on the great GPB. You can thank me later.
