The season began back in the hot dog days of August. Now, as an arctic blast of cold weather hits Georgia, it's looking like another "November to remember" as the GHSA Football playoffs kick off this week. GPB’s Football Fridays in Georgia will be in Hoschton, Georgia as the Mill Creek Hawks host the Grayson Rams in what should be a terrific first round matchup. Grayson comes into this one with a sparking 9-1 record, 7-1 in the region. Coach Mickey Conn’s crew lost only one game to Dacula, with a final of 27-17. Mill Creek enters the postseason as one of the hottest teams in the state. The Hawks have won five in a row, including an impressive 51-7 win over Collins Hill; a 30-0 shutout of Norcross, the defending 6A state champs; and a 34-7 win over playoff-bound Peachtree Ridge. Coverage kicks off at 7pm with the GPB All Access Pass pregame show. Grace Olson will have a great story about the final teams to qualify for the postseason: the winners of the play-In games. Matt Stewart and I will talk recruiting in the 'College Football Hall of Fame Recruiting Roundup', Larry Smith will delve into the X’s and O’s of the game in our 'Extra Point' segment, Claire Simms continues her outstanding coverage of the Georgia high school graduation rate in her Stop the Drop segment, and Jon Nelson will visit Rabun County. There, he'll talk to the region champion Wildcats who've been vying for a region title since Harry Truman was in the White House. Throughout the night, and especially in our postgame show, we will keep you up-to-date with the outcome of all the games and give you a look at out how the brackets are shaping up. It all begins this Friday night at 7pm, on the great GPB. Don’t miss a second.
