Believe it or not, we are already in the eighth week of our Football Fridays in Georgia coverage here at GPB. Just three more regular season games remain before the five-week dash for glory and a chance at a state championship in the Georgia Dome in mid-December. This week we are at Raider Valley where the Raiders will host one of the top 6A teams in the state, the 5-1 Milton Eagles. Milton is coming off a 23-0 win over Cherokee and has also blanked two other top schools: both defending 6A state champion Norcross and Lassiter. Walton would have a 5-2 record, but had to forfeit three games for using an ineligible player. The Raiders still have a shot at the playoffs, but most likely will need to win out to get to the second season. Coming up on our All-Access Pass pregame show, Grace Olson has an outstanding story about the Walton’s Mom’s Club, getting up-close-and-personal with some spirited Raider moms who make pregame meals, tend to the injured players, and serve as a base of support for the entire program. Claire Simms has a terrific story for our Stop the Drop segment on the Rites of Passage program going on at B.E.S.T. Academy High School of Atlanta that helps freshman find their way in high school and prepare them for college. Jon Nelson travels to Buena Vista, Georgia to check in with the undefeated and top-ranked Marion County Eagles. Matt Stewart will have all the latest recruiting news and former Falcon Chuck Smith will talk X’s and O’s in our "Extra Point" segment. All in all, it's shaping up to be another great night on Football Fridays in Georgia, only on the great GPB!!
