The North Gwinnett Bulldogs hit the field running as they played their way to a 36-17 victory over region rival Norcross.

There were a lot of surprises in a different way this week past in high school football…

And a lot of it had to do with numbers…

339: The number of total points Region 1-6A teams scored in their 6-1 Friday night

91: The number of points Camden County scored in their 85-point win over Beach

87: The number of points Lowndes scored in their shut-out of Windsor Forest

63: The number of points Buford scored in their shut-out of Hancock Central

49: The regular season win streak that ended when Carrollton beat Calhoun 42-7

26: The number of unanswered points North Gwinnett scored in their 36-17 win over Norcross at Blue Devil Stadium on GPB that solidifies their Number One ranking in 6A (check out the poll page here inside GPB Sports)

26: The number of consecutive losses that Jordan had until beating Temple 14-13

20: The number of losses Murray County had in a row before beating Gordon Central 14-12

11: The number of ranked teams that lost last weekend

So, you see where I’m going here…
Take a look at how Lowndes got their numbers on the new scoreboard at Martin Stadium by going into the Locker Room with Jake about 5:35 in… he leads off with TCC and Cairo…

We tackle the idea of “How many points is too many to score?” with Kevin Thomas of ESPN Radio Coastal Georgia and ESPN Savannah in this week’s “Football Fridays In Georgia” podcast at the bottom of the page. Our other guest this week is Robby Pruitt, the head coach of Coffee. In his second year there in Douglas, he picked up a signature win in Waynesboro by taking care of Burke County. Pruitt has built successful programs in Florida and Georgia at Union County and Fitzgerald and as, what the business calls being a “builder,” he’s looking to do the same in Douglas…

Kevin and Andrew have the highlights along with the fast start of Laney on OFL Friday Night…

In Middle Georgia, there was a night where everyone who wasn’t in each other’s regions all played each other. Northside took care of Westside-Macon 28-14. Mary Persons moved to 3-0 after their 35-0 win over Henry County. Lamar County went 3-0 after beating Pike County 41-14. But, probably, the biggest surprise was that Warner Robins blew out Peach County 54-21- the historical folks in central Georgia say that it was the most points ever scored against a Trojans team…

The game was played at the Mac and it was the marquee match-up of the week…

Here are Ben and Frank making fun of each other during the highlights…

Another surprise was Washington County beat Baldwin to the extent they did… 56-7

Admittedly, there were a lot of great storylines in the city of Atlanta…

Sandy Creek won a shootout with East Coweta. Lovett knocked off Marist in overtime, and it makes for the first time in Alan Chadwick’s 29 years as coach that the War Eagles have lost back-to-back regular-season games or been below .500 this late in the season.
And we’re talking Week 3…!!!

Mays snapped ML King’s 19-game region win streak with their 36-28 win. Landmark survived their 14-7 win over Mt. Paran Christian. Fellowship Christian is now 3-0 after beating Oglethorpe County. Calhoun and Jefferson, the finalists in double-A, both lost.

What are your favorite storylines of the early season, faithful viewer, listener, and reader…???

Let me know what has you fired up at this early part of the year and we can talk about them here every week.
