Hit Those Books.

The NCAA Basketball Championship has now been decided at the Georgia Dome.

On Monday, GPB Sports had a second meeting with the NCAA to discuss a possible
joint project. We at GPB are very passionate about our Stop The Drop campaign
aimed at encouraging high school students to stay in school and get their diplomas.

The NCAA also has a message to get out. In 2016, the NCAA is raising the minimum
grade point average to play college sports as a freshman from 2.0 to 2.3.
That's right. If you are a high school athlete with dreams of playing college sports, any
sport, as a freshman starting out in 2016, you must have at least a 2.3 grade point average.

The NCAA is just beginning to get the word out. One of their tag lines is "2 point 3 or take a knee"
meaning that if you do not have that 2.3 grade point average, you will be on the sidelines, sitting
one year out.

The bottom line is its time to hit the books. If you have athletic aspirations its important, its necessary
its manditory.

And you eighth graders and freshman out there, do not think you can sluff off your first couple years and
come on strong at the end. You do not want to dig yourself into a grade point hole that you cannot dig yourself
out of. So hit the books now. You will get your grades up, and keep your grades up. And give yourself
the chance to play college sports your freshman year.

Starting in 2016, "its gotta be, a 2.3" Start hitting the books right now.
