Are we really down to the Final 40 in the playoffs…???

Apparently so…

Wasn’t it just the other day that we were chasing all the teams- all 405 of them- who were trying to make their marks in Georgia high school football for this season…???

We’ve seen a lot of ups and downs, too much tragedy, and some great story lines as we get to game number #13 for the survivors…

What are your story lines for this week as we go for another round of the “thinning of the herd...?” Remember, your comments end up in the state semi-finals version of the “Five Things I Know…”

And, as always, these thoughts are in no particular order…

First thing… Single-A is all jumbled up…

The toughest region in the class, Region 1, is no longer with us…
Clinch County lost in Lincolnton 27-0, Aquinas upset Wilcox in Rochelle, Charlton lost in Bogart to Prince Avenue Christian, and that'll do…

Friend of GPB, Chris Kane, has the highlights at the 3:40 mark…

But you have to give a tip of the hat to folks like the Irish who haven’t gotten this deep ever in their school’s history- and that goes back to 1957…

Second thing I know… another shout out goes to the town of Warner Robins as two of the three schools in town, the Demons and the Eagles, get their movement into the final 8 in quad-a…

Head Coach Bryan Way went on the road and knocked off a second defending champ in Chattahoochee...
Big Melvin tells the tale…
((HT: 13WMAZ-TV Macon))

Third thing I know…

The big match-up in five-A just happens to be in Kingsland this week as Camden- who, really, looks like they haven’t shown a lot of their playbook to anyone, takes on Rush Propst and the Colquitt County Packers. Propst has shown his winning philosophy and winning ways in his four seasons in Moultrie and knocked off North Gwinnett in Suwanee last Friday night on the #greatGPB (as Gil says…)

Here’s how it went down…

Willie Woodyard is not bad for a guy who didn’t even start out as a running back…

Fourth thing I know… I still think double-a and triple-a are the toughest top-to-bottom in the playoffs every year, and this year is no different…

Triple-A has Burke, Allatoona, Peach, Carrollton, Cairo, Pius, Sandy Creek, and Gainesville…

Double-A has Buford, Calhoun, Fitzgerald, and Carver- three of them are in the right-side bracket…

Here’s how Fitzgerald gets Carver… at the 1:40 mark…
Friend of GPB, Robert Hydrick, explains in the Locker Room…
((HT: WALB-TV Albany))

Fifth thing I know… blatant plug alert…

It’s quarterfinal action on the #greatGPB as we head back to Raider Valley where Walton gets to host Dacula. Jared Zito moved over from North Forsyth to take over for Keith Maloof at the beginning of the year.

You see what they’ve been able to do… now they have to stop Tyren Jones…

Pre-game a little before 8PM on the TV side and on gpb.org with Gil, Coach Hunter, Mark, Jackie, Chrissy, Lindsey, and myself as Trey gets to hang with family in Illinois for the holiday...

Happy Turkey Weekend to all of you…
Play it safe, everyone… I’ll talk to in the semi-finals…
