Kickin' it with the Books with thoughts about the Gators!

Even though his mind this week has been focused on playing Florida in the annual Rivalry on the River, University of Georgia's senior punter Drew Butler is celebrating being named as one of recipients of the National Football Foundation's (NFF) Scholar-Athlete Awards. Butler, the son of legendary UGA kicker & current Bulldogs radio network contributor Kevin Butler has won a $18,000 postgraduate scholarship.

Butler is the only player from the Southeastern Conference on the list of 16 national recipients.

He joins 12 UGA players in school history to earn this honor. Among them most recently Jon and Matt Stinchcomb, and David Greene. Place kicker Bobby Etter was the first UGA winner and the only other special teams performer. An All-SEC preseason first team performer. Butler is among the best punters in the country. Currently he ranks first in the SEC with 46.1 yard average. Butler will honored in New York City on December 6th.

He leads the 22nd-ranked Bulldogs against Florida this Saturday at EverBank Field in Jacksonville, Florida. The GPB Sports Blog caught up with the Duluth native and former Peachtree Ridge High performer this week and got his thoughts on the BIG game against Florida.
