Week 8: A Magic Night in Moultrie

Week 8: A Region 1 AAAAA Heavyweight Bout

This weeks web game on gpb.org/sports is going to be another great rivalry
game. This one is a Region 1 AAAAA battle royal between 6-1 Colquitt
County and 5-2 Lowndes. The Lowndes Vikings are coming off a heart
breaking loss to arch-rival Valdosta in the Winnersville Classic.
Valdosta scored two touchdowns in the final 48 seconds to beat
the Vikings 21-17. That one hurt, but the Vikings do not have time
to let that one linger. They have to lick their wounds, strap on their
helmuts and get ready for coach Rush Propst and his Colquitt County Packers.
who will not be feeling sorry for them one iota.

The Packers are led by QB Cole Segraves and RB Willie Woodyard. Both these
guys get the Packers offense rolling. The Packers made it to the state
5A finals last year before losing to Brookwood, and they have a good chance
to return to the Georgia Dome again this year.

The Vikings are led by QB Lance Jarriel and have an outstanding running
attack with a bunch of guys who can run for daylight led by Mike Moore
who had 17 carries for 142 yards in that loss to Valdosta.

Our coverage kicks off at 7pm live from Moultrie, Georgia, and Mack Tharpe
Stadium on Friday.

And one final note on last weeks GPB Football Fridays in Georgia game between
top ranked McEachern and Hillgrove: If you missed it, you missed a great high
school football game. The game had it all, great plays, turnovers, big tackles,
a fumble recovery for a touchdown, and a game winning safety. This game had so much
drama Shakespeare would have loved it. This week we are at Heritage High in Conyers as
the Patriots host Flowery Branch. Don't Miss It.

All volunteers receive training, free parking and a catered meal provided by Carole Parks Catering.
