Atlanta's wages have increased 2.5 percent over the past year.

Wall Street Cheat Sheet has recently listed eight cities in the U.S. where wages are on the rise. According to the article, real wages have dropped almost 7 percent since 2006. This means that inflation has outpaced the rate of wage growth by a substantial margin over the past seven years.

The good news is that wages are increasing, and the gains are happening in different job sectors and different geographical areas.

Where does Atlanta land on the list? The top 8 cities are listed below:

8. Houston

7. St. Louis

6. Washington D.C.

5. Dallas

4. Atlanta

3. Seattle

2. Baltimore

1. San Francisco
