Identity Theft Can Happen While Job Searching Online

Mailing resumes and cover letters through the post office is a thing of the past. With the convenience of the internet, job searching is more time effective and productive online. However, there are cautions to be taken seriously with the possibility of identity theft. Teena Rose, from Resume to Referral, gives 5 tips for a safe online job search.

1. Be wary of submission invitation - Always proceed with suspicion when you receive any cold-contact e-mail from someone;

2. Avoid Responding To Requests For Personal Information;

3. Make Sure The Webpage Is Encrypted - Encryption, in short, ensures the private information you submit online is kept safe;

4. Read And Understand The Privacy Policy Of Sites You Patron;

5. Report fraud to the Internet Fraud Complaint Center
