Georgia is now a significant player in the world of television and movie production.

The last 30 days have seen announcements to build major film studios in Georgia by mega-producer Tyler Perry, Pinewood Studios, and Medient Studios.

We can now add Triple Horse to the list.

The Georgia-based film and production company has announced it will build five large filming stages at a cost of $38 million. The facilities will be located in Newton County about 30 miles east of Atlanta.

The expansion is expected to immediately create 35 full-time jobs and will likely create hundreds of part-time and temporary positions with production projects.

Georgia had over $3 billion worth of film related projects during 2012.

Newton County once the home to popular television shows In the Heat of the Night and the Dukes of Hazzard.

All volunteers receive training, free parking and a catered meal provided by Carole Parks Catering.
