If you happened to attend the "Downton Abbey" season five premiere party at the Fox Theatre last week, you may have noticed a special cake that bore a striking resemblance to Lady Violet, the Dowager Countess of Grantham.

Ok, let me stop sugarcoating it - no pun intended! It was a cake intended to look like Dame Maggie Smith as the Dowager Countess. Cake and chocolate artist Karen Portaleo created the cake just for the occasion.

According to her blog, she says it took 18 hours to make. It was made out of vanilla and buttercream with an Earl Grey Tea soak.

I’m sure the Mrs. Patmore would have approved!

Below are some photos of her cake-making process along with the final eerily on target and scrumptious finished product.

More photos from the gala and a fabulous recap are coming this week.

By the way, if you happened to taste the cake, tell us how you thought it tasted in the comments below.
