Sorry the trip is now sold out! Hope to do this next year though. We'll let you know.

How do you plan to spend your Christmas vacation? Might I suggest that you spend it sipping champagne and noshing on hors d’oeuvres at a GPB ball at Highclere Castle? It’s a fantasy you can make a reality as we are sponsoring a trip of a lifetime to the location of public television’s most popular drama!

It takes place December 11-17, 2013 and you can snap up your tickets now. Here’s a snapshot of what you’ll experience on the trip:

  • GPB-exclusive welcome reception with champagne and canapes in the Saloon (renowned party setting)
  • Stroll the Drawing Room, Smoking Room and public rooms of the castle, with guides on hand to answer questions
  • 3-course dinner served in the opulent Library
  • After-dinner serenade in the Saloon adorned with a 17-foot Christmas tree, where professional choristers sing festive carols

View the full itinerary here - it's packed with more excursions.

Highclere Castle has become one of the most sought after vacation destinations. According to the castle’s Facebook page (yes it has a Facebook page!) public tickets are sold out for the year. Only a few private tour tickets are available if you can get it on your own.

George Herbert, the 8th Earl of Carnavon and his wife Lady Fiona Carnavon own Highclere Castle and maintain it. Lady Carnavon is a historian and has written books about the estate.

If you've got questions about the trip, let us know. Intend on going? Be sure to share your photos with us.
