You too can look, smell and drink like the seductive ice queen Lady Mary. Or at least a British retailer and a wine maker want to help you to do so.
Britain’s Marks & Spencer announced it will be selling a Downton Abbey themed beauty line in October just in time for the show’s overseas premiere. The 10 piece collection will include lipsticks, lip balm, nail polish, lotions, bath soaps, bubble bath and candles. Lines from the show like Lady Mary’s retort to Matthew “Now stop talking and kiss me before I get cross!” and the Dowager Countess’ astute observation “No one wants to kiss a girl in black!” are said to be featured in the box.

To toast your new Crawley look, you can raise a glass of Downton red or white wine. Dulong Grands Vins de Bordeaux, is making the stuff for Wines That Rock which will make it available here. The wine is said to mimic the taste of the french blends preffered by the British aristocracy during Edwardian times. Wines That Rock are apparently experienced in this sort of thing. They are the folks behind Breaking Bad Beer and Game of Thrones Iron Throne Ale and Take the Black Stout.
Make-up and wine are the latest official Downton Abbey themed merchandise revealed but they are certainly not the last. Producer Gareth Naeme confirmed that clothing and furniture merchandise are in the works. I'm sure Star Wars creator and master merchandiser George Lucas would be proud!
