Downton Abbey Revisited: A Look Back and Ahead

What were your favorite Downton Abbey moments from Seasons 1 & 2? My favorite scenes came from Season 2 notably when Mr. Bates and Anna got married and when Matthew finally proposed to Mary. What were yours? (Leave them in the comments section below.) By the way you’ll be able to compare notes with the cast and creator of “Downton” Julian Fellowes on GPB this Sunday November 25 at 8 p.m. We will be airing the retrospective “Downton Abbey Revisited.” And it repeats again at 9 p.m.

It’s hosted by television legend Angela Lansbury, a big fan of the series. Dame Maggie Smith, Elizabeth McGovern, Hugh Bonneville, Dan Stevens, Michelle Dockery, Siobhan Finneran are among the cast members who will reveal show secrets.

Creators Fellowes and Gareth Neame discuss how they developed the show’s vision: “a combination of Edwardian-era tradition with modern multi-character storytelling.” Hugh Bonneville who plays the Earl of Grantham talks about his character’s relationship with his mother, Violet, the Dowager Countess. Cast members also talk about fashion and their war with corsets.

And of course there will be plenty of sneak peeks into Season 3, particularly how the arrival of Martha Levinson (Shirley MacLaine) affects the balance of power.

I can’t wait to see it so I included a clip of the show here. And if you’re also like me and really can’t wait to until January to start watching Season 3,   join us as a V.I.P. for a Downton preview party on December 18.
