Setting up a new streaming service can be overwhelming. This step-by-step guide to setting up GPB Passport has all the information you need to get started. It may look like a lot of steps, but you will only have to do them once.
If you run into trouble, we’re here to help! GPB’s Audience Care Team is available Monday – Friday, 9 AM – 5 PM at (800) 222-4788 or ask@gpb.org.
STEP 1: Creating Your PBS Account
Do you already have a PBS account? You may have created an account by entering your email address and creating a password, or you may have signed up from your Google, Facebook or Apple account. If you have a PBS account, proceed to step 2.
If you do not have a PBS account, we recommend that you create one by entering your email address and creating a password. You can log in using Google, Facebook or Apple if you prefer. IMPORTANT: use the same email you used, or plan to use, when making your donation.
Use one of the services below to sign in to PBS:
Not registered yet? Create a PBS account
By creating an account, you acknowledge that PBS may share your information with our member stations and our respective service providers, and that you have read and understand the Privacy Policy (external link opens in new window) and Terms of Use (external link opens in new window).

STEP 2: Activating Your GPB Passport Benefit
Once you have made your donation to GPB, you will receive an email with an activation link. Clicking on that link and logging into your PBS account is the easiest way to activate GPB Passport.
If you can’t find the email, don’t worry! You can use Passport Member Lookup to enter your email address and receive an email from PBS with an activation code and instructions . (Remember to use the same email address you gave GPB when you made your donation.)
STEP 3: Setting Up Your Device
How do you want to stream programs from GPB and PBS? You can download the PBS App, or you can use a web browser to watch online.
We recommend that you download and activate the PBS App onto your Smart TV, tablet or mobile device. With the PBS App you can save favorites to a watch list and seamlessly switch between streaming with GPB Passport and watching any of GPB’s four broadcast channels. Here’s how:
1. Make sure your device supports the PBS App. Here is a full list of supported devices.
Please note: Even though they are “Roku” branded, LG Smart TV’s are NOT supported. You will need to connect a Roku or other streaming device to your LG TV in order to use the PBS app. If you are a monthly Sustainer of $10 or more you can call (800) 222-4788 to receive a Roku Express from GPB.
2. Download the PBS App onto your device. You can find it in the app store of your mobile device or search the streaming channels of your Smart TV or streaming device for “PBS” to add it.
3. Activate the PBS App. Find specific instructions for your device.
If you prefer to watch online, visit gpb.org/television/shows. Available programs are listed alphabetically, or you can use the search bar to find a program by name. You will need to sign in with your PBS account to access content that is only available with GPB Passport.
