Political Rewind: Nov. 3 Morning Brings Excitement, Anxiety As Voters Line Up

Tuesday morning on Political Rewind: Polling places are open across Georgia for the final day of voting in the 2020 general election. More than 53% of Georgians cast their ballots early, but election officials caution that lines in many places could be long as up to 2 million voters may show up to vote today.

Last-minute visits to the state by President Donald Trump on Sunday and former President Barack Obama are just the latest suggestion that Georgia is hotly contested.

Monday on Political Rewind: It’s the final day before Election Day. The past week saw several big names in national politics make campaign stops in Georgia, including President Donald Trump — further proof that the road to the White House leads through the Peach State.

Former President Barack Obama visits Atlanta today to boost Joe Biden and Democratic senatorial candidates Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock. Our panel discusses the tight races for Georgia's two Senate seats.

Nearly four million Georgians have already cast their ballots through absentee and early in-person voting, and more than half of the state’s registered voters have already voted.

Political Rewind: Georgia On Minds In 'Toss-Up' Election Races

It’s the last day of in-person early voting in the 2020 general election. After three weeks of record early voting turnout, today is expected to be no different. Officials have said 400,000 people could vote at early voting locations across Georgia today.

Voters can still return absentee ballots, but Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger suggested taking them to an official county drop box for absentee ballots instead of sending by mail.

Political Rewind: State Races Reflect National Dialogue — Which May Lead To Two Runoffs

Thursday on Political Rewind: Could Georgia be in for two Senate runoff elections? Political analysts have long considered an eventual runoff likely in the free-for-all race for the seat currently held by Gov. Kemp-appointee Sen. Kelly Loeffler, but Sen. David Perdue may be in a virtual tie with Jon Ossoff.

And as larger than normal turnout continues in Georgia’s in-person early voting period, the Secretary of State promises solutions to significant problems slowing the voting process at locations across the state. As of yesterday, nearly 1 million ballots have been cast in the first three days of early voting or with an absentee ballot.

Political Rewind: Georgia Candidate Debates Continue Amid High Early Voter Turnout

Wednesday on Political Rewind, we discuss the latest on a slate of crucial elections in Georgia as early voting numbers show record turnout. Only two days into the in-person early voting period, more than 10% of the state’s registered voters have already cast their ballots, either in person or absentee.

And yesterday, in Georgia's 6th Congressional District race, Democrat Rep. Lucy McBath and Republican challenger Karen Handel met in a tumultuous debate. Polling is tight between the two just three weeks from Election Day. We also touch on the 7th Congressional District race between Democrat Carolyn Bourdeaux and Republican Rich McCormick for the seat of Republican Rep. Rob Woodall, who decided not to seek re-election.
