Georgia’s most significant drought in 14 years is getting worse. The latest U.S. Drought Monitor map shows nearly half the state in extreme or exceptional drought.
A Macon church director has been charged with stealing or mishandling more than $500,000. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office says the alleged scheme lasted from 2022 until October 2025, when Riverside United Methodist Church abruptly closed.
Tybee Island will not receive $12 million in federal funding the city requested for beach renourishment. Officials say they’re disappointed with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers decision shared this week.
