A member of the Team USA bobsledding team competing in the 2026 Winter Olympics briefly played lacrosse at Mercer University, according to his profile.
Joshua Williamson, 29, of Sanford, Florida, played college lacrosse at Mercer University in Macon between 2015 and 2016, according to his Instagram posts and his team profile.
He eventually picked up bobsledding the year after, when he won a reality competition in 2017 that Team USA hosted called “Scouting Camp: The Next Olympic Hopeful,” according to his profile.
However, Williamson transferred out of Mercer University. His Team USA profile and multiple media reports indicate that he graduated from Florida Atlantic University.
Second time in the Olympics
He has already represented Team USA, having competed at the 2022 Beijing Olympics, where his team placed 10th.
However, as a push athlete, Williamson has “excelled” representing the U.S. bobsled team with “multiple world cup podiums in four-man bobsled and a career-best fourth-place finish at the 2025 IBSF World Championships,” according to his Team USA profile.
“Williamson has overcome injuries in the past few seasons, including broken ribs and knee surgery, to make his second U.S. Olympic team for the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026,” the profile said.
All of the teams competing in bobsledding are training as of Friday. Competitions for the gold will start next Monday until Feb. 17, according to Team USA’s website.
You can watch the Winter Olympics competition on Peacock and NBC Olympics.
