LISTEN: U.S. Sen. Jon Ossoff rallied hundreds of voters in Atlanta on Saturday. GPB’s Sarah Kallis reports.
On Saturday, U.S. Sen. Jon Ossoff rallied hundreds of voters in Atlanta.
Ossoff energized the crowd by hitting back against a recent FBI search and seizure of 2020 ballots in a Fulton County elections warehouse.
"They made a big mistake," he said. "They came to Fulton County, Ga. They came to the political and spiritual heart of the civil rights movement."
Ossoff also criticized the Trump administration's effect on the Department of Justice.
"The administration is fast corrupting the Justice Department and even our intelligence agencies," Ossoff said. "And yes, they are laying the groundwork for mischief in the upcoming elections."
A spokesperson for the National Republican Senate Committee said in a statement that Ossoff does not vote in the interest of Georgians in the Senate.
"Jon Ossoff wants to protect criminal illegals like Laken Riley’s killer from deportation," NRSC Regional Press Secretary Nick Puglia said, referring to Jose Ibarra, who was convicted of Riley's 2024 murder. "Ossoff is a liberal fraud who desperately called for President Trump’s impeachment and never votes for Georgia's values."
Ossoff, who has served in the Senate since 2021, is running for reelection this year.
